Bio
Greetings!
Thank you for reaching out to Total Life Counseling and considering to work with me as your mental health counselor for you and your family. It is my hope to provide a therapeutic atmosphere which encourages all individuals to feel welcome, appreciated, and actively listened during every visit to TLC. In each counseling session, I hope to build rapport with each client by developing therapeutic momentum as we create long-term therapy goals, and weekly short-term goals, to “deliberately” and “mindfully” work on daily with patience, positivity, and practice for progressive improvement and success.
Experience/Specialties
The cognitive development for each person can benefit from counseling services as adults, or while clients are young people in school and learning to develop academic, social, emotional, and life management skills for the present and future life experiences. While at Florida State University, I worked in research labs that focused on deliberate practice and expert human performance with Dr. K.A. Ericsson, an ADHD Coaching internship with Dr. Frances Prevatt, in addition to research lab work with Dr. Frank Fincham focused on family anxiety reactions, mindfulness, and cardiovascular responses to stimulating the sympathetic (flight/fight/freeze) nervous system and measuring heart rate variability for a person’s body to return to a parasympathetic (peaceful/relaxed) nervous system state of relaxation. The research and training experiences I have attainated are applicable to my current work in conducting mental health counseling services, as each session is designed to systematically enhance mental health processing and functioning. While clients are discussing their emotional experiences and new coping skills in an atmosphere of deliberate-mindful practice for improvement, they are actually working with me to directly help themselves to achieve new coping skills, new levels mental focus, as well as mental peace, and success in all facets of life experiences.
Counseling Training and Approach
Before working as a mental health counselor at TLC, I had the opportunity to work in various school settings while in undergraduate and graduate school internships by helping student-clients in elementary school through college. While in graduate school, I also completed my clinical internship at UCF in which I gained clinical instruction and insight in how to help students optimize their mental health while also improving their academic performances and personal life goals. When working with clients and their families, I also hope to enhance overall client mental health wellness in using Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and coping skills training to help individuals develop new coping skills and mental health strategies for increasing their emotional resilience and improving their overall well-being.
